Abstract
Numerous accidents have occurred that highlight the significant safety risks associated with a propeller blade failure or unintended release. IFALPA firmly asserts that aircraft design standards should prioritize the reduction of hazards in the event of such incidents, specifically when a propeller blade fails or becomes detached due to a hub failure. Designing for the protection of passengers, as well as ensuring the safety of the aircraft structure and critical systems, must be paramount considerations in the design process.
