Abstract
The air transport industry faces constant pressure to operate flights safely, efficiently, and on time. Under normal operations, pilots are trained to fly according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Some flights, however, are conducted outside the scope of normal operations such as those associated with post maintenance ferry flights, flights that may be conducted to trial new equipment, etc. In order to mitigate the possible safety risks generated by non-routine operations, this Position Paper lists a suggested series of actions to be implemented.
