Terms of Reference- Provide guidance and organisational processes that ensure the Federation’s accident, serious incident and incident investigation activities are focused in the development and implementation of prevention strategies that contribute to improved safety in air transport.
- Formulate and administer IFALPA AAP policies and guidance material.
- Contribute to the development of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), including associated materials, with regard to accident, serious incident and incident investigation.
- Contribute to the development of State and industry standards, practices, procedures and associated materials with regard to accident, serious incident and incident investigation.
- Provide expert advice to the Executive Board and, on their request, contribute to the work of other Committees and interested parties.
- Promote and support communication and safety information exchange within IFALPA, IFALPA Member Associations and the industry with respect to accident, serious incident and incident investigation.
- Assess investigations into accidents, serious incidents and incidents for completeness including compliance with ICAO Annex 13 and the implementation of preventative safety recommendations.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and proper use of non-punitive safety programmes.
- Collect and communicate information regarding unsafe trends that are identified by accident, serious incident and incident investigations.
- Define standards for and administer the IFALPA Accredited Accident Investigator scheme, as well as facilitate the education and acceptance of investigators.
- Acknowledge and honour outstanding contributions of individuals.
